Amber Integrated Hires New Washington, DC-Based Director of Advocacy
Oklahoma City, OK — Amber Integrated today announced the appointment of Kathryn Bertram as its new Washington, DC-based Director of Advocacy.
In her new role, Bertram will design and lead advocacy strategies for public- and private-sector clients and nonprofits, focusing on state and federal policy engagement, coalition building, and coordination of state-level programs across the country.
Bertram joins Amber Integrated after nearly 15 years as a senior advocacy and communication strategist with the Johns Hopkins Center for Communication Programs in Baltimore. There, she helped secure one of the largest bipartisan funding increases to fight global diseases and co-led a global campaign recognized with PR Week’s Global Campaign of the Year Award in 2014. Her expertise spans data-informed behavior change, crisis communication, and behavioral economics—helping organizations better understand public attitudes and turn awareness into meaningful action.
Previously, Bertram served as Director of Communications for the Leadership for Healthy Communities program in Washington, D.C., funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, where she advised national and state-level policy organizations on communications and advocacy strategies to reduce childhood obesity and type 2 diabetes.
“Kathryn brings a unique combination of national experience, creativity, and evidence-based strategy to our growing advocacy practice,” said the Amber Integrated partners in a joint statement. “Her addition gives us a presence in the nation’s capitol and enhances our ability to serve clients at every level of government.”
Bertram is a graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Journalism and completed graduate coursework in Public Health at Drexel University. She also holds advanced certificates in Applied Risk Communication from Harvard University and Human-Centered Design from the Johns Hopkins Carey School of Business.
